In January 2010, news broke that Cliff Curtis had tied the knot with a woman whose identity remains protected. The ceremony occurred in the actor's native New Zealand the previous New Year's Eve.

Cliff Curtis had kept his romance with his wife private and the wedding details on the mum. The actor had even emailed the Daily Post, requesting privacy for the special day, attended by approximately 200 guests who were primarily family members.

Despite his efforts to keep his wedding away from the Hollywood spotlight, paparazzi journalists still gatecrashed the event. "I married here," the Maori descendant said of his home, Tapuaekura a Hatupatu Marae.

"[I] Tried to have no cameras at the wedding, but they still turned up anyway on New Year's Eve [...] It was a bit over the top. [...] It mystifies me why that was necessary," he commented in a 2014 interview.

Cliff Curtis Met His Wife after Filming 'Sunshine'

Curtis starred in the futuristic sci-fi thriller, "Sunshine," alongside Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne, Chris Evans, Michelle Yeoh, and Hiroyuki Sanada in 2007. The acclaimed actors portrayed a story set in 2057, following a team of astronauts racing to re-ignite the sun.

Cliff Curtis Is Said to Be a Father of Three

Speaking about his role in the crime series "Gang Related," Curtis hadn't entirely enjoyed it, but he had to do it. He remarked, "Bread and butter, brother. It helps feed the kids." The Hollywood star is reported to have three children.

When he filmed "Risen," opposite Joseph Fiennes and Tom Felton, Curtis didn't speak to his wife and kids and rarely interacted with his castmates. Although he described it as a "cleansing process," saying he talked "a lot and a lot of nonsense," he admitted the near-absurdity of it all.

When he played Genesis, a chess coach struggling with bipolar personality disorder, in 2014's "The Dark Horse," he used method-acting (living in character) for months in preparation for the role.

"It was really challenging," he shared, adding that although his wife was "very loving and very supportive," she worried about his health. She'd ask him to take days off, but he'd choose not to. He said his kids embraced the whole experience, but it was a relief to finish shooting finally.
