'Blue Bloods' Fans Are 'Crushed' and Asked to Sign a Petition as Their Favorite Show Is Officially Ending
Three days ago, "Blue Bloods" shared on their X page that they would be filming their final season, which would air in February next year. However, the announcement has caused mass dissatisfaction.
"Blue Bloods" has been a firm favorite on CBS for 13 seasons. However, on November 20, they announced they would film season 14 as the show's final season. They also shared the last season would be airing in two parts. The first part will be released in February, and the second will be released in the fall of next year.
The X post gained over 170,000 views, and many fans commented on how distraught they were to learn that one of their favorite shows was going off the air. Some other fans took it one step further.
One fan said they were "crushed" by the show's ending but hoped each storyline would be well wrapped up. Another fan admitted that although they didn't often watch TV, "Blue Bloods" was their favorite show. Another fan on X said:
"Please sign [the] petition to help save ["Blue Bloods."]"
This post only gained 43 views, but the petition link indicates that the petition has been signed over 200 times, with the current goal being 500 signatures. The person who started the petition stated that they felt the show had more to explore.
Some fans have not acknowledged the show's ending, with one person saying it got better each season and that they hoped it would be renewed for a fifteenth season soon. Another fan said they were sad that "Blue Bloods" ended because they considered it the last good television show.
Many shows experienced a production break over the last few months due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, but they have all begun filming again now, with "Blue Bloods" being one of them.
"Blue Bloods" and "Young Sheldon" are filming their final seasons. The last season will comprise 18 episodes, with the first ten airing on February 16, 2024, and the remaining eight will air in the fall of next year.
The president of CBS Entertainment, Amy Reisenbach, and the president of CBS Studios, David Stapf, released a joint statement in which they said:
""Blue Bloods" will forever be a beloved part of CBS's legacy. It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base."
They also extended their thanks to the cast for everything they had done for the show during its run. They then thanked the writing teams for how they had written the show and what they had done for the fans.
Tom Selleck released a statement saying he would miss working on the show and seeing his costars each day. He also expressed gratitude that the show had celebrated the men and women who worked to protect society.
