When Sara Ney went out to be one of the panel members of a rom-com session at the 2023 Book Bonanza event, little did she know that she would go from being a girlfriend to being a fiancée.

It was the second day of the event, and on the panel, Kim Jones, Lucy Score, Kristen Ashley, Melanie Moreland, and Trilina Pucci joined Sara, while Jiffy Kate was the moderator.

Sara is the author of the "How to Date a Douchebag" series. She has made her mark and is a USA Today Bestselling author. She is known for her adult romances and did not expect to be on the receiving end of such a romantic moment.

At the event, as the panel session was ending, one of the panel members said they had time for one final question. A member of the audience raised her hand and asked, "Do you all have, as I think we all do based on the level of hilarity on this panel, any funny first date experiences?"

A man in the crowd raised his hand to answer the question, and when Sara saw that it was her boyfriend, Jeff, she was shocked. She said she felt attacked just as the crowd laughed and a panel member insisted she wanted to hear the story.

He said she had told him she would give 30 minutes of her time. However, 30 minutes turned into two hours, and as he said this, she jokingly told him his time was up, refusing to agree that she gave him that much time that day. Jeff revealed that he started to think, "My God, this woman is totally obsessed with me."

Jeff noted that his favorite highlight from their first date was the look she had when he stole her French fries. Since their first date, he said everything in his life had become better. She has made him a better father and a better version of himself.

At the time of the event, they had been together for two years, and he said their time had been filled with so much love, laughter, and adventure. He recalled consoling her as she cried, yelled, and got angry through 36 episodes of "Love is Blind."

He continued, "Sara, you know at times, I'm at a loss for words when we're in the moment. So, today, I'm going to use your words because I think they're perfect for this moment."

At this point, Jeff started recalling something Sara told him. He said he would never forget her words. Jeff said one day, while they were home, sitting on the couch, watching "Ink Masters" while she stuffed her face with popcorn, a jewelry commercial came on.

As they watched the commercial, Jeff said Sara looked him right in the eye as if she was staring at his soul. At that moment, she told him, "Jeff, my favorite color is diamonds." At the mention of this, the crowd erupted into laughter.

After the laughter died down, he held up a red box and declared, "You are the most incredible woman I have ever met." As the crowd exclaimed their oohs and aahs, Sara stood up to meet Jeff in the audience.
