Pregnant First-Grade Teacher Speaks out after Being Stabbed Multiple Times during a Carjacking
Speaking out for the first time since she got stabbed and carjacked a week ago, the pregnant first-grade teacher expressed her feelings in an emotional video.
33-year-old Tanya Nguyen shared a heartfelt video on YouTube on Sunday wherein she thanked people for all their support and well wishes. “Hi everybody, thank you so much for all of your love and support. I’m completely overwhelmed by it and very grateful for all of your support,” Tanya said.
The incident took place around 6 pm on March 20 moments after she parked in front of her Sunland home. Three men appeared and demanded Tanya’s phone, but didn’t leave before they stabbed her ten times.
The assailants then took her Kia but crashed into a parked vehicle in another neighborhood in an effort to get away and ended up fleeing on foot.

The knife wounds caused severe damage to the 12 weeks pregnant Tanya, who had to undergo surgery to repair a puncture wound that sliced through her lungs.
Surveillance footage of the crash helped identify the suspects, who have all since been taken into custody. They remain detained on $2 million bails each and have not been publicly identified.

“I’m going to get through this; I promise,” Tanya said while tucked in underneath a blanket in bed.
The day after the attack on Tanya, Los Angeles police Lt. Frank Kryshak said during a news conference that he believed the attack to be gang-related and referred to it as “animalistic” and added, "I get choked up even talking now about it."

Tanya’s husband, Greg Maga last said that she was scheduled for an ultrasound to determine how Tanya’s baby is doing, but unfortunately didn’t give an update on Sunday’s video.
In aid of Tanya’s recovery, a GoFundMe page got set up with much-needed funds steadily streaming in with just over $45,000 raised thus far.
In an equally disturbing attack, a teacher at Trickum Middle School in Gwinnett County, Georgia got stabbed by a 13-year-old student during a language arts class after he told her that he had a “surprise” for her.
The unnamed student stabbed the teacher in the chest with an 8-inch butcher knife and got detained quickly before anyone else could suffer harm.

The teacher arrived at Gwinnett Medical Center conscious and talking to first responders and doctors, as reported by WSB-TV.
A school district spokesperson told AJC that the student got charged with aggravated assault, possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, and possession of a weapon on school grounds.
In a stabbing related case, a daycare worker severely injured two adults and three babies in a stabbing spree.
