Alex Rodriguez Didn't Eat the Birthday Cake His Fiancée Jennifer Lopez Brought to ESPN
Jennifer Lopez surprised her fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, with a birthday cake on Sunday, which he did not eat; “writers are now eating it instead.”
Jennifer Lopez brought a sweet treat for her fiancé, Alex Rodriquez, on ESPN -- a birthday cake. The former Yankee star acted as a commentator for a game against the Boston Red Sox and had no interest whatsoever on trying out the cake.
A ‘BORING’ CAKE
“A-Rod left behind the cake presented to him by J-Lo for his B-day on the ESPN broadcast. He did not eat a slice,” Boston Globe writer Julian McWilliams tweeted. “All of us writers are now eating it instead.”
McWilliams’ post received comments, including one that said the cake looked “boring,” and perhaps why Rodriguez didn't eat it. Another replied:
“You are Jennifer Lopez, engaged to be married to Alex Rodriguez and this is the crappy Walmart bakery section cake you get for someone?”
BEAUTIFUL SURPRISE
The “Hustlers” star came from behind Rodriquez before giving him a tight hug before presenting him with the colorful cake. His daughters, Natasha and Ella, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis, were also present during the small surprise.
“The whole summer has been one large cake,” Rodriguez told his fellow commentators Jessica Mendoza and Matt Vasgersian.
Rodriquez took the opportunity to thank his finacé for inspiring him and making it feel like his birthday every day.
Lopez previously presented her soon-to-be groom with a four-tier, Yankee-themed cake during her concert on Saturday, and three days before celebrated her own birthday with another cake in her Miami party. The vanilla rum cake stood at six feet tall and had 24-karat edible gold embellishments.
LOPEZ AT 50
The former baseball player honored the singer-actress with a sweet Instagram post that left Lopez emotional. Rodriquez took the opportunity to thank his finacé for inspiring him and making it feel like his birthday every day.
The couple got engaged on March 9 after being together for a few years. They reportedly met at a 2005 baseball game, when Lopez was still married to Marc Anthony. In February 2017, they saw each other again and was believed to have been in a romantic relationship since.
