Michael Douglas Is a Proud Granddad as He Meets 1-Month-Old Grandson Ryder for the 1st Time

Michael Douglas is a proud grandfather for the second time. He recently shared a cute image of himself and his second grandchild after meeting for the first time.

Award-winning actor Michael Douglas is proud to be a grandfather again as his oldest son Cameron Douglas welcomed his second child with his partner, Viviane Thibes.

Michael shared a picture of himself and the one-month-old tot on Instagram, and it was an adorable sight to behold. The picture showed Michael cradling the baby in the crook of his arms.

The baby, named Ryder, looked to be asleep as he rested comfortably in his grandfather's arms. Michael had a feeding bottle in his hands as he smiled for the camera.

Dressed in black sweats and a buttoned-up shirt, the Oscar award-winning actor had a scruffled look as his beards were not shaved and his hair looked ruffled. The post had the caption:

"First time I've seen my month old grandson, Ryder! ? ❤️."

The one-image post had over 38,000 likes within one hour of being posted and numerous comments from fans and lovers who congratulated the family on welcoming the new bundle of joy.

Some fans encouraged Michael to enjoy the precious time he had with his grandson, while some used the opportunity to ask about his first grandchild, Lua Izzy.

He got his sentence extended for two years after he confessed to selling drugs in prison.

Cameron first announced Ryder's arrival three days after he and Viviane celebrated Lua's 3rd birthday on Instagram in December 2020. Similarly, Michael celebrated baby Ryder's arrival by sharing a picture of the happy parents posing with their kids.

He expressed his excitement at the birth but recently met him for the first time. The "Wall Street" actor became a grandfather for the first time in 2017 when Cameron and Viviane welcomed their first child.

Lua Izzy was named after Michael's father, Kirk Douglas, who was born Issur Danielovitch and later went by the name Izzy. Lua's birth was a great time for the family as it came 16 months after Cameron was released from prison following a seven-year term for a drug conviction.

In 2010, Cameron was sentenced to five years for possession of heroin and selling methamphetamine. He got his sentence extended for two years after he confessed to selling drugs in prison.

Although this caused some rift to occur between Cameron and Michael, the two were able to repair their relationship and have become close since the incident happened, with both father and son appreciating each other over the years.

Cameron is Michael's only child from his first marriage with his ex-wife Diandra Luker. He is currently married to Catherine Zeta-Jones, and they have two kids: son Dylan, 20, and 17-year-old daughter Carys.
