Alexis Danson is the second and only adoptive daughter of "The Good Place" star Ted Danson. The father of four adopted Alexis when she was an infant and raised her with his first wife, Cassandra "Casey" Coates.

Alexis' parents already had a daughter, Kate Danson, when they welcomed her into their family. And while Kate became an actress, Alexis pursued her passion for music, becoming a pop singer and songwriter.

Alexis Danson Was an Infant When Her Mother Was Recovering from a Stroke

Alexis was born sometime in 1985 and was given up for adoption. Soon after, Ted and Cassandra assumed the roles of her caregivers. A few years before, when Alexis's adoptive mother gave birth to Kate, she suffered a stroke that paralyzed her left side.

Thankfully, Kate was a healthy baby, but it took years for Cassandra to make any significant physical recovery. Ted, now married to Mary Steenburgen, took care of his former wife and their newborn baby during that time. After a while, he said the emotional impact of her medical condition subsided.

And gradually, she restored her mobility. Alexis's parents had married on July 30, 1977. However, after 16 years of marriage, the couple divorced in 1993. Alexis was eight at the time, but she maintained a close bond with them both.

Alexis Was Building a Music Career

Alexis changed her name to Kat Danson as she began pursuing music. She released her pop records first under the pseudonym Lux Livid, which she later shortened to Lux. She gained much recognition, as her songs were featured in high-profile productions, including "The Hills" and "CSI."

In 2009, she appeared for an interview with "PRO MOTION. The Brad LaBeau Company," where she spoke a bit about herself. Alexis said she would have liked to be an assassin if she hadn't chosen a musical career. That year, she had released her debut single, "Sugarfree," and was working on her debut album.

However, Alexis hasn't been active on social media or released any new music in recent years. She last posted in June 2017 on Instagram. She updated her Facebook bio in 2020, but that was her last activity on the app.

Alexis never posted any music on her social pages, but she filled her Instagram timeline with several photos of her pets. She once shared an adorably hilarious photo of one of her cats after a haircut went wrong. The singer also had another cat with heterochromia and a little dog.

Alexis Has Been on the Set of Her Father's Films

Alexis said growing up with a famous father was unnatural because of all the attention she and her family received. Yet, despite constantly living under the Hollywood spotlight, she felt "truly blessed" for having loving parents and a loving family.

She revealed that she sometimes visited her dad on set, and it was something she always found exciting as a child. Alexis was present when her dad shot "Cheers," alongside the late Kirsti Alley, though she admitted it was difficult as filming would extend past her bedtime.

And Ted, who turned 75 last year, always tried to make Alexis and her siblings laugh. He once confessed that he would hide in the closet for hours, waiting to jump out and surprise them. And while Alexis got on well with her dad, she was just as close with her mom.

Based on Cassandra's Instagram page, the two regularly spend time together. In June 2020, Cassandra shared a lovely selfie of herself and Alexis and another where they posed with an unknown gentleman. That year, they also spent Christmas together.
