Sarah's first child is her son, Malachi Jakes, born in October 2002. When he turned 17 in 2019, she marveled at how much he had grown in a touching birthday tribute, saying he brought value to every room he entered. The 20-year-old has an active social media presence, where he once shared his mental health struggles. In a July 2022 post, he honored a dark period in his life; the year before, he was battling depression and said he often isolated himself, something he called "self-sabotage." But a year later, he was celebrating that he was finally "starting to live his dream."

Sarah's second child is her daughter Makenzie, born in her first marriage to NFL star Robert Henson. The former couple had married in 2008 in a dreamy wedding attended by Tyler Perry. But after an unhappy union, they divorced in 2012.

Makenzie started eighth grade in 2022 alongside her younger sister, Ella, who joined that year's second graders. Last November, she accompanied her mom to the Fall Festival, as Sarah shared on Instagram. Before meeting Sarah, Toure had also been married. In his former union, he welcomed three children, daughters Ren and Teya and son Isaiah. Ren is a podcaster, married to Pastor Tyler Headlee, and Teya is a blogger. Together, the sisters collaborate on their joint podcast, "Generation One."

Last October, Sarah, Ren, Tyler, and Toures looked excited as they prepared to spend quality time on a night out, indicating a strong familial bond.
