Sarah Michelle Gellar Stuns at 46 in a Plunging Strapless Black Dress for Festival in Cannes

Sarah Michelle Gellar loved spending time in Cannes where she attended the 6th annual Canneseries Festival. Not only did she look stunning for the closing ceremony, but the actress also eternalized her handprints.

The plunging bodice of Sarah Michelle Gellar's black gown was structurally opposed to the ruffles and flowers on the fishtail hem at the closing ceremony of the Cannes International Series Festival on Wednesday.

Feeling "truly overwhelmed and emotional," she thanked everyone who supported her in an Instagram post the following day, and gave a "special thank you" to her "dear friend" Christian Siriano for making the dress.

Her "Wolf Pack" co-star Chloe Rose Robertson commented, "Big congratulations Sarah, no one more deserving." "Congratulations, beauty!" Kira Kosarin added. Siriano congratulated her in his own post:

On Wednesday, she donned a tiered black dress while standing on a dock like a lovelorn heroine in a mid-century wartime film, writing, "Cannes a love story."

Though promised, she has yet to upload her handprint ceremony photos, where she stunned in a blue and green stripe dress with green satin platform heels.

She looks to have the same black box clutch bag as she has later that day. In addition to all her glitzy events, the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" actress had a "surreal" experience on a panel.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Is Making a Comeback

After taking a break from acting for a good part of a decade to be with her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., and their two kids, Charlotte Grace Prinze and Rocky Prinze, the star was not coy when asked if her return to acting feels like a comeback in a Guardian profile in January 2023. She replied:

"It does. It's such an interesting time for me."

She started slow, with a fan service cameo as the principal in "Do Revenge," a teen film starring Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke that references teen movies like her cult classic "Cruel Intentions."

Sarah Michelle Gellar now stars as an investigator on "Wolf Pack" on Paramount+, where she "set up an infrastructure for the younger cast," having been a child star herself.
