Carol Burnett had a "wonderful" start to her 90th birthday on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" on April 26, 2023. "Gosh, she is still absolutely beautiful! Happy birthday Carol!" read one comment on her photo, taken on the talk show's set.

"Tune in and join us for a laugh," Carol Burnett wrote on Instagram beside her photo with Kelly Clarkson. "You don't look 90!!! Wow!! ♥" an admirer said.

Another shared disbelief, "I can't believe she is 90! Happy birthday." A lifelong fan wrote, "You are such a beautiful, joyous lady! Forever etched in my childhood memories....no better show EVER!!!

"You look beautiful," a person stated. "You look fabulous, have a wonderful day!" one said. For Clarkson's daily cover song, she and Burnett treated viewers with a duet.

The comedian "was thrilled" to have her "chum" Julie Andrews by her side.

They harmonized on "So Long," the sign-off song from the comedian's show, "The Carol Burnett Show." The revered program aired on CBS from 1967 to 1978.

Carol Burnett's Co-Stars Did A "Hysterical" Tribute

Burnett clearly envisioned how she wanted to celebrate her 90th year on Earth. She was not interested in a party with balloons, confetti, or roast. The star wanted a variety show, which is precisely what she got, complete with a 90-piece orchestra.

"Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love," which was filmed earlier this month and aired on her birthday last night on NBC, is stuffed with A-list talents such as Bernadette Peters, Sutton Foster, Billy Porter, Kristin Chenoweth, and Katy Perry.

Her co-stars from her upcoming mini-series "Mrs. American Pie," Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, and Laura Dern, did a "hysterical" tribute at the show now steaming on Peacock. The newly minted nonagenarian was also on "Better Call Saul" last year. She told Page Six:

"I'm just so fortunate, at this age, to be able to be getting in the sandbox and playing with people."

Comedians often talk about how their old projects could not be made today, a sentiment Carol Burnett expressed, but not because the humor aged poorly. "The Carol Burnett Show" had a huge production budget.

Bob Mackie made "60 to 75 costumes a week," they had a 28-piece live orchestra and 12 dancers in the show. "I don't think a network would go for what we did," Burnett said in an interview published on Sunday.
