Luke Macfarlane Does Not Have a Spouse Though Was Linked to Several Actors in the Past

Luke MacFarlane does not have a spouse, but whether he has a boyfriend is unclear. Like many celebrities, he keeps details about his love life private and has made it clear several times that he refuses to discuss it. However, Luke has been linked to some famous men in showbiz.

MacFarlane is a Canadian-American actor who is famous for appearing in shows such as "Brothers & Sisters" ( Scotty Wandell) and "Killjoys" ( D'avin Jaqobis).

Born on January 19, 1980, in London, Ontario, Macfarlane has also starred in the drama series, "The Night Shift," which ran for four seasons from 2014 to 2017.

The movie star is also the lead actor in several Hallmark productions, including "The Memory Book," 2014, which was his first film for the network.

MacFarlane's upcoming appearance is on the Apple TV + series "Platonic," where he will be starring alongside actors Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen. As a Hollywood star, he has revealed details of his sexuality while busy with a show wherein he starred as a gay man.

Luke Macfarlane Came Out as Gay during the Filming of ”Brothers & Sisters”

During an interview with the Toronto Globe and Mail in April 2008, Luke MacFarlane decided to go public with his sexual orientation. He expressed fear at the unknown regarding his career after revealing the truth about himself:

"There is this desire in LA to wonder who you are, and what's been blaring for me for the last three years is how I can be most authentic to myself – so this is the first I'm speaking about it in this way."

"From a standing outside perspective, and also as someone who is gay, I think that's a very exciting time. How exciting that we're saying, 'This can be part of the cultural fabric now,' because it is two series regulars, two people that you invite into your home and you see every week. It's telling of the beginning of more waves, and I'm very proud of that," he continued.

MacFarlane referred to the drama series, "Brothers & Sisters" wherein his character Scotty Wandell marries Kevin Walker (played by Matthew Rhys). The show ran for five seasons from 2006 until 2011.

Eleven years after it ended, MacFarlane and his former co-star Matthew Rhys remain close friends after playing one of the first same-sex couples on a network drama. In October 2022, MacFarlane said this about the actor:

"Matthew is truly a gentleman, he really is. [..] We just had a great time with each other."

Luke Macfarlane Has Been Very Private about His Love Life

Although he has spoken fondly of his on-screen husband, Luke MacFarlane remains mum about his personal life. He once stated that he prefers keeping details about his "intimate" life under wraps.

MacFarlane explained that even though he came out as a gay man, that is entirely different from revealing who he is dating. He added his main concern is ensuring the media understand the difference when they start asking questions relating to him.

When asked during an interview once whether he was dating anyone at the time, he quickly shut down the question, although he revealed he would like to get married someday:

"That is my personal life. That is where I draw the difference."

When looking at MacFarlane's social media, his Instagram page does not provide a clue about the "Bros" star's dating life. Even though it is a known fact that he is not married, it is unclear whether he is dating anyone.

Luke Macfarlane Was Linked to Several Famous Men over the Years

In a September 2022 interview, Luke MacFarlane revealed he was more nervous about being dishonest about his sexuality than coming out. "I think so many of the people I saw were tortured and ruined by the lies that they had to tell," he said, adding:

"Hollywood is very important, work is very important, but I think being honest is much more important."

During the interview, MacFarlane was asked whether he was in a relationship, and he blatantly said he refused to discuss it, adding that he expects "privacy" as a performer.

The former singer reportedly dated "Grey's Anatomy" alum T.R. Knight back in the day. The pair were frequently seen hanging out together in the 2000s.

In addition, MacFarlane had also been romantically linked to fellow Canadian actor Charlie David sometime around 2008. He was also linked to another actor and scriptwriter, Wentworth Miller – who publicly came out in 2013.

According to speculations, the Hollywood men started dating in early 2006 and broke up in 2018. "Prison Break" actor, Miller, has never talked about his love life.

He has been rumored to be dating actor Kristoffer Cusick and Hollywood photographer Mark Liddell. Although people have linked him to MacFarlane – his co-star on "Prison Break," they have not confirmed the rumors.

Miller came out as a gay man in an open letter to the St Petersburg National Film Festival in Russia. He rejected an invitation to an event after witnessing Russia's unsettling treatment of gay men and women in the country, writing:

"As a gay man, I must decline."

After coming out, Miller also revealed that he attempted to take his own life several times because he could not handle being secretive about his sexuality anymore. While attending the Human Rights Campaign Dinner, he said his first attempt was when he was a teenager.

The British native also got candid about accepting his sexuality while disclosing that he was targeted growing up. Daily, he had to fight by pretending to be someone he was not. "Every day was a test, and there were thousand ways to fail. A thousand ways to portray myself," he stated.
