Is Katie Findlay Gay? She Is Openly Queer and Advocates for the LGBTQI+ Community
Katie Findlay is not only a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, but they are also its fierce advocate. The young star, who has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade, only recently revealed how they identify.
Katie Findlay debuted onscreen in 2010, portraying Jill in a single episode of the mystery series "Fringe." They booked their first movie soon after, playing Emily in the TV drama, "Tangled," before another minor role in the comedy-crime show, "Psych."
The following year, they starred as Rosie Larsen in Netflix's award-winning series "The Killing," a role that became one of their many staples. Fans may also recognize them from their stints in "Man Seeking Woman" and "How To Get Away with Murder."

Another show they are well-known for is "The Carrie Diaries," where they starred as Maggie Landers. Findlay shared the screen with AnnaSophia Robb, Ellen Wong, Austin Butler, and Chloe Bridges.
However, besides their remarkable acting prowess, one of Findlay's most striking traits is their unapologetic advocacy and hyperawareness of the LGBTQIA+ community. The actress has extended their solidarity with this community beyond social media and into their career.

Katie Findlay's Orientation: The TV Star Identifies as a Queer Femme Person
Findlay's most recent work comes from CW's action series "Walker: Independence," which premiered in 2022. Before the October 2022 premiere, they appeared on a panel with Jared Padalecki and their co-stars to discuss the show.
While giving their take on the fluidity of gender roles and how queerness wasn't exactly new, given the public's gradual ease with conversations about it in recent years, they revealed, "I’m queer. I identify as a femme person and not a woman."
As a linguistic reflection of that identity, Findlay goes by they/them pronouns, which they have indicated on their Instagram bio. They further explained that in "Walker: Independence," they felt there was room for exploring that gender fluidity.

Katie Findlay Frequently Posts LGBTQI+ Content
In August 2017, Findlay shared a photo of them riding a purple scooter with a friend during what appeared to be a Pride parade. They called it one of their "happiest memories," writing:
"One of my happiest memories from a visit home a couple years ago. I'm thankful to have this day is linked to joy for so many reasons. HAPPY PRIDE EVERYONE ❤️💛💚💙💜 @igoyarpus [sic]."
Earlier that year, Findlay had advocated for transgender kids' rights. At other times, they would post snippets from TV shows with LGBTQIA+ representation, like the Japanese animated series "Sailor Moon." In 2023, they clearly stated they did not tolerate transphobia on their page.
Findlay Starred in the LGBT-Centered Film 'Straight Up' in 2019
When Findlay was offered the role of Rory in "Straight Up," they were initially skeptical about taking it. They worried whether the film was trying to capitalize on the LGBT audience or if its overall message would harm the community.
But after reading the script, their concerns completely vanished. "Straight Up" follows the story of Todd (played by James Sweeney, opposite Randall Park and Tracie Thoms), who concludes that perhaps he isn't gay as he always thought and attempts a romantic relationship with a woman, Rory.
