Kate Hudson's Ex-husband Chris Robinson's Life 12 Years after Their Divorce
It’s been more than a decade since The Black Crowes frontman and the “Almost Famous” star dissolved their marriage, and a lot went on in their lives in that time.
53-year-old singer Chris Robinson is widely known as the lead singer of the rock and roll band The Black Crowes, which reached the peak of popularity in the mid-‘90s. But in Hollywood, he is still remembered as Kate Hudson’s ex-husband.
For the two of them, it was love at first sight. They moved in together just days after their first meeting in 2000 and were married on New Year’s Eve. For seven years, Chris and Kate lived as husband and wife, which resulted in son Ryder, now 16.

It was Chris’s second marriage, for he had previously tied the knot with actress and model Lala Sloatman, a union that lasted from 1996 to 1998.
For Kate, it was a first, and while she has had other lasting relationships, she never married again, telling Graham Norton in 2011:
"I am 31, I already have one child, and have had one divorce, so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy."
Kate is known to be friends with all her exes, and Chris is no exception. There is no animosity between the two former lovers, and they have been seen out together with their respective significant others.
CUSTODY CASE
Kate and Chris’ son Ryder was two years old when the couple divorced, and the parents were granted joint custody of the child.
But more than 10 years later, when Ryder was 13, Chris petitioned the Los Angeles Superior Court to re-evaluate the custody agreement. In the end, both parents reached a new agreement that left all parties happy.
STILL FRIENDS
Chris and Kate’s divorce was executed amicably, and the former couple remains good friends to this day. By November 2019, the two were said to be “on better terms than they ever were!”
In fact, Kate and her current boyfriend Danny Fujikawa were recently spotted attending a concert by Chris’ band The Black Crowes at The Troubadour in Los Angeles.
CO-PARENTING
As Kate shared in March 2019, she and Chris have been happily co-parenting their son Ryder, who is now a teenager, after been divorced for 12 years.
“I do feel that when you get divorced, you know, you’re still in a relationship. It’s just a different kind of relationship,” Kate said on the podcast “Divorce Sucks!” with Laura Wasser. She also praised Chris for always being present in his son’s life.
MARRYING AGAIN
Two years after his divorce from Kate, Chris started a relationship with Allison Bridges, who became his third wife in 2009. Chris and Allison welcomed daughter Cheyenne Genevieve in December that year.
After nine years as husband and wife, Chris and Allison divorced in 2018, with Allison returning to more private life and raising Cheyenne as a single parent.
MUSIC
In 2011, a couple of years after his divorce from Kate, Chris founded The Chris Robinson Brotherhood while The Black Crowes were in a hiatus, releasing their first single “Older Guys” at the end of 2012.
In January 2015, The Black Crowes announced they were going to disband over disagreements between Chris and his brother and fellow bandmate Rich.
In November 2019, The Black Crowes announced a reunion tour after Chris and Rich resolved their eight-year dispute. It comes just in time for the band to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their first record.
MOVING ON
Kate went on to date another musician a few years after divorcing Chris. In 2010 she became singer Matthew Bellamy’s partner, with the two welcoming son Bingham Hawn Bellamy the following year.
The actress and the Muse frontman became engaged in 2011, only to call it off in 2014.
Three years later, Kate started to date musicianDanny Fujikawa, and the two still live as a couple, welcoming daughter Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa, in October 2018.
