Besides having a successful career, Ruffin has a thriving love life and has been committed to her husband, Schiltmeijer, for over a decade. The lovebirds met in Amsterdam while Ruffin worked with the international creative group Boom Chicago.

They dated for two years before exchanging vows in 2010. While Amber Ruffin's husband has been a full-time painter since 2004, he has supported her career throughout the years.

Despite being married for over ten years, Ruffin revealed that she and her husband don't celebrate their wedding anniversary.

Amber Met Her Husband When She Moved To Amsterdam

When Ruffin moved to Amsterdam in 2008, her life changed. That's when she met her husband, Schiltmeijer, a Dutch artist and her future late-night boss.

Ruffin met Schiltmeijer in New York while they were both living in Amsterdam. At the time, Ruffin was performing under Boom Chicago, and they had been touring New York while Schiltmeijer was there on vacation.

The pair had an interesting first encounter. In an interview, Ruffin recalled meeting Schiltmeijer while she was outside a bar downtown smoking, the two began talking, and the rest is history.

Couple Always Forget About Their Anniversary

Despite being married for over ten years, Ruffin revealed that she and her husband don't celebrate their wedding anniversary. The comedienne said she and Schiltmeijer frequently forget their anniversary, and it has become fun for them.

In an interview, Ruffin recalled how they forgot about their wedding anniversary in their third year and remembered about it three days later. Ruffin stated that since then, they keep missing their anniversary, and when that happens, they give each other a high five.

Schiltmeijer believes in customer satisfaction and aims to ensure he provides top-notch services to his clients.

Her Husband Moved To NY With Amber

According to Schiltmeijer's website, he was born in Haarlem, Holland, but grew up in Amsterdam. There, Schiltmeijer developed his passion for art and opted to hone his skills by enrolling in a three-year specialized course in Art-Direction.

Amber Ruffin's husband, Schiltmeijer, worked in Art-direction for two years before deciding to pursue painting full-time. He began in 2004, and his business thrived after people started noticing his incredible work. Because of his commitment and dedication to painting, Schiltmeijer managed to build a massive clientele portfolio without having a website.

While Schiltmeijer had an established business in Amsterdam, when he met Ruffin, he decided to move to New York. Though Schiltmeijer began his painting business in an era where there was less reception on digital migration, he was able to build his business empire.

He has since continued painting and expanded his business by showcasing his artworks on social media. His creative work entails original acrylic paintings in a layer-over-layer style that provides deep, rich colors and bright images.
