Lewis Tan's Father Is a Renowned Stuntman
Lewis Tan's parents are his everyday source of inspiration. His father, Philip Tan, is a former gymnast who became a stuntman, actor, producer, director, and second unit director.
Philip, who was born in Singapore and grew up in the U.K., gained fame as a stuntman. He is best known for his excellent work in the acclaimed film "Martial Law," which debuted three decades ago.
Additionally, Philip has provided stunt work in various movies, such as "Inception," starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, and Cillian Murphy; and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, and Josh Duhamel.
Lewis Tan's Mother Is a Former Model Who Enjoys a Private Life
Lewis Tan's parents have lived life differently. While Philip is used to the public spotlight, his British wife, former model Joanne Cassidy leads a private lifestyle and doesn't share much information about herself.
Between his parents, Lewis Tan sees his father as an influential figure to him.
Lewis often posts about his mom on social media. On Twitter, Lewis paid tribute to his mom during Mother's Day celebration in 2021, which featured her holding a bouquet while sitting in her new car Lewis bought for her.
In another post in 2020, Lewis called his mom a "queen of four crazy boys." Lewis is private about the identities of his other family members. In 2017, he also shared a stunning picture of his mom when she was young.
Like Lewis, Philip also shared a bit about his wife. The renowned stunt coordinator posted a delightful selfie with his wife in 2018 during the release of the film "Crazy Rich Asians."

With Philip's incredible feat, Lewis Tan could not help but admire his dad's dedication to his own craft. Lewis counts his dad as an "icon," along with Marlon Brando and Cary Grant.
Lewis is also impressed by how his dad overcame several challenges in his life. According to Lewis, Philip was abandoned as a child in Singapore and dealt with racism in London, where the stunt professional began dating his white mother.
Although Lewis grew up knowing his father's hardships, witnessing his rise to stardom, and eventually following in his footsteps, he remains humble, as fame does not enamor him.

In 2020, Lewis stated that he wanted to honor his father's life and history. He said he had finished his fourth screenplay and was excited to make his directorial debut. The film is based on his father's story, which he feels compelled to tell as an artist.
Besides his directorial pursuits, Lewis said his primary goal is to dominate the action genre like his dad. He also has plans to venture into unique dramas, character-driven independent films, and well-crafted romance and comedy.
