Parents' Transformation: From Skeptics to Supporters of Megan Moroney

Despite her stellar achievements in the music industry, country singer Megan Moroney keeps her parents' identities private, occasionally mentioning them in interviews.

Before achieving fame, Megan initially thought she would become a professional with a knack for numbers. Influenced by her mother, who was an accountant, she presumed that she would pursue a similar path by studying accounting in college.

Megan also had a deep passion for music, which was influenced by her father. Music was a big part of her life. At 16, her dad taught her how to play the guitar. On top of that, she also took piano lessons to explore her musical talents further.

Megan's father frequently makes appearances on her Instagram page. In earlier times, the father-daughter pair would strum their guitars together at home, creating melodies in the living area or the music room.

In college, she got a big break opening for country singer Chase Rice at a sold-out show in Georgia, which served as her debut performance. After that performance, she fell in love with music and wanted to move to Nashville.

"I was like, 'Well, I want to drop out of school.' That's why I told my parents, and my parents were like, 'Yeah, that's not happening.'"

The doubts, even from her own parents, only motivate Megan in her relentless pursuit of music. She proved to them that she could be successful in her own way.

According to Megan, wearing shirts from rival sports teams, in her mom's eyes, is like committing a "sin."

After her song reached #1 on country music radio charts, Megan reflected on past discussions with her parents about getting a tattoo, which they initially opposed.

She fondly remembered the playful exchanges with her mom, where she joked about getting the letter "T" tattooed on her arm, representing the University of Tennessee, if her song failed to claim the top rank.

Although she had technically gained her parents' blessing, Megan reconsidered the idea and found other ways to celebrate her achievement. She also recalled another hilarious conversation with her mom involving her debut song.

Before the track's release, she sent her mom a sample of her song for her feedback. However, Megan's mom expressed shock over the song title associated with Tennessee despite them being proud Georgia natives.

Meanwhile, Megan's dad would readily join his daughter's music tours when not engrossed in music sessions. He has attended Megan's out-of-town events from the Downtown Music District to Carrollton, Georgia.

On top of supporting his daughter's music shows, he consistently offers valuable advice to Megan, particularly in helping her focus more intently on writing impactful lyrics.
