Gabrielle Union reveals her daughter has '102 nicknames' & explains how to pronounce newborn's name
New mom Gabrielle Union is still in baby heaven and recently shared more details about her precious little girl. She also gave the hilarious reason why her last name is the infant’s surname.
Since welcoming baby Kaavia with her husband, Dwyane Wade, Union has been over the moon, and as most new moms do, she’s been updating everyone on social media with the cutest pictures and mommy-daughter moments.
We’re definitely not complaining, because it’s refreshing to see the “Being Mary Jane” actress enjoy her dream-come-true.
In a recent Instagram post, a bare-faced Union wore a white tank top. In her arms, she held the little bundle of joy twinning with mommy in white.
Much like that time the star told us about the lovely baby smell, she shared with fans some of the cute nicknames Kaavia already has. No, you didn’t read the headline wrong. She has 102 nicknames. Union also made sure to explain how to pronounce her daughter’s name.
The 46-year-old first-time mom wrote:
“Just greazzzy and happy. That is all. @kaaviajames pronounced Kah-Vee-Uh James. She has 102 nicknames including but not limited to Kaav, Kaavi, Kaavi Baby, Kaavi J, Jamie, KJ, Nugget, Nug, Pooters.”
NBA player, Wade, had earlier revealed their child’s name is Kaavia James Union Wade, and even though she had replied a curious fan, Union explained again that the “James” was in honor of her uncle and godfather, James Francis Glass.
THE HILARIOUS REASON
On choosing Union as their daughter’s middle name, the “Breaking In” star, for the first time, revealed the reason behind the decision.
According to her, she had waited for so long, so when Kaavia was born, she had to have her name in there.
“Union is her middle name. I've waited this long so fo sho I was gonna get in there.”
A DREAM COME TRUE
Wade and Union welcomed their baby girl via surrogate on November 7. For years, Union has battled infertility that makes it difficult for her to get pregnant. Some IVF cycles have also resulted in nearly ten miscarriages, something the Award-winning actress details in her 2017 memoir, “We’re Going To Need More Wine.”
It’s no surprise that the happy parents shared the news of their “miracle baby’s” arrival by telling fans they are “sleepless and delirious but so excited.”
Kaavia is the couple’s first child together, but Union is already stepmom to Wade’s three sons from previous relationships. Union and Wade are also raising Wade’s nephew.
BIG BROTHER LOVE
Already, Kaavia is getting a lot of love from her siblings. Wade’s first son, born by his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches, sent a reassuring message to his infant sister. Zaire Wade shared a photo of the new mom and dad cradling Kaavia and wrote:
“I love you sis! Your big brother is here to protect, love, and guide you. Welcome to the family.”
With all the love baby Kaavia has at her disposal, we’ll be expecting an update of more nicknames from Union.
