Michael Douglas Shares Rare Throwback Photo with His 102-Year-Old Dad for Father's Day
Michael Kirk Douglas paid tribute to his father, who is still striving to be fit and healthy, on Father’s day for “being the greatest.”
Michael Douglas honored his father, Kirk Douglas, through a sweet post on Instagram which included a throwback photo of the father-son duo. The “Ant-Man” actor greeted his father and thanked him in the caption.
“Happy Father’s Day Dad! Thank you for being the greatest,” he wrote.
Many followers of the actor took time to greet his 102-year-old father and himself a happy Father’s Day through comments.
Last year, the 73-year-old shared his father’s secret to being fit; he still works out! Douglas revealed that Kirk has a trainer whom he works out with. He also recalled his dad’s sad experience when the guy he trained with for 30 years passed away.
Kirk, like his son, was an actor who was paired with Hollywood’s most iconic actors and actresses through his career. One of the actors he was paired with was Burt Lancaster, who later became his most excellent tandem.
Among their films were, “I Walk Alone,” “Tough Guys,” “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral,” “The Devil’s Disciple,” “Seven Days in May,” and “Victory at Entebbe.” Although the two were always on screen partners, they were not friends in real life; in fact, they were competitive.
Although Kirk never won an Academy Award, his son has made him proud with his many notable roles and recognition for his films. The proud father was present during Douglas’ awarding of a Hollywood star, who was recognized when the actor gave his speech.
"My dad is here. In a month, Kirk will be 102 years old! It means so much to me, Dad, that you’re here today. Thank you for your advice, inspiration, and I’ll say it simply and with all my heart: I’m so proud to be your son," he said.
