In a past interview where he spoke about his career, the artist recalled a moment when he was just about to go on stage and got nervous. At the time, Michael and Luisana only had two sons. Michael disclosed how he dialed them up on Skype and said:

"...I had my two kids looking at me, and I said, 'Boys, Papi's nervous, I'm scared, it's getting to me today,' and I said, 'Would you pray for me? Would you help me remember what's important?' "

That story is just one of the ways that shows that his kids mean everything and more to him. Thus, when their eldest son, Noah Bublé, fell critically ill at just three years old, Michael and Luisana faced the most devastating time.

The 48-year-old singer spoke about how the diagnosis made him gain a sense of the things that truly mattered and how it sparked a heightened realization of mortality. As far as how long it took for this shift to happen, Michael said it occurred immediately. According to him:

"There was a snap moment. There was not a—it was not a matter of weeks or a mantra I told myself. It just happened very quickly for me, and I think the understanding of how my world changed or how I saw who I wanted to be changed very quickly..."

Michael opened up about the moment his world came crashing down when he and Luisana learned of Noah's illness. While admitting how hard it was to talk about in a 2018 interview, Michael disclosed:

"...we got the diagnosis, and uhm, that was it, man, my whole life ended."

As he got emotional and wiped tears from his eyes, he continued to recount the events surrounding the tragic news. The doctors informed him and Luisana that, at first, Noah's prognosis was not looking too good.

Michael and his wife had no choice but to take things day by day. His entire family and his wife's family dropped everything they had going on, pulled their own kids out of school, and, together with Michael and Luisana, everyone moved to be with Noah as he was getting treated.

Michael still marvels at the fact that his son was able to endure such a life-threatening ailment at such a young age.

Similarly, when Noah's parents released their statement about his detrimental health ailment, they announced that they would be halting their careers to be there 24/7 for their beloved baby. A part of their joint statement read:

"...We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children. Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well."

His decision to put a pause on everything he was working on included concerts and new song projects. When asked whether it was difficult for the star to step away, he asserted that leaving everything for his son was not even a decision for him, and it was simply a necessity.

For Michael, there was absolutely no ego involved in his choice to leave the entertainment industry for Noah. In fact, the "It's a Beautiful Day" talent spoke about how he made a promise to himself that he would never allow himself to be consumed by the trappings of the narcissistic tendencies embedded in the showbiz world.

He said that from the minute he received the news about Noah's diagnosis, his life changed forever, and he never looked back since. The unimaginable and often insurmountable pain that Michael and Luisana went through even led to the musician wishing he was the one diagnosed with cancer instead of his son.

Michael spoke about the tumultuous times when he and his wife felt as though they couldn't breathe, let alone find the strength to get out of bed when they woke up each day. He said that what would help them push through each day was the knowledge of the abundant love, support, and prayers that fans and loved ones were sending their way.

"...when they got it out and the chemo was done and...they said, 'We did it, he's good, he's ok.' I fell..."

Michael still marvels at the fact that his son was able to endure such a life-threatening ailment at such a young age. Noah, according to his dad, is an avid superhero fanatic, and as far as his dad is concerned, Noah is a hero in real life:

"...I always say to him, 'Spider-Man is amazing, Superman is amazing, but they're fake, they're not real, you're a superhero, you're my hero. My real superhero."

On a past livestream Michael and Luisana did, their real-life superhero son made a cameo and showed the public that he was doing well a year after chemo. His dad also made his return to the stage once Noah was given the all-clear by his doctors.

This year, Noah is ten and still doing well, health-wise, and Michael and Luisana couldn't be more grateful.
