Jonathan Bailey Is a Stay-At-Home Dad

Jonathan's life changed when he and Sage discovered they were expecting their first child. Despite his career ambitions, he set aside his aspirations to become a stay-at-home dad and prioritize their child's upbringing.

Sage said he decided to be at home. This choice stemmed from avoiding placing their children in daycare and their aspiration to make smart financial commitments to their future by leveraging their earning potential.

Despite the challenges that came their way, the television anchor opted to continue working while Jonathan stayed at home raising their kids. Over the years, he has supported her career despite facing difficulties.

Sage said Jonathan struggled at times, and she admitted to feeling both envy and guilt, but he keeps reminding her about prioritizing their children and their future, which helped her persevere more at work.

Sage once mentioned divorce.

She also looked forward to the day her husband might write a book, considering his diverse skills and advice, from parenting to dealing with challenging situations.

Sage also emphasized that Jonathan's multiple roles — as a teacher, coach, doctor, therapist, and more — have an immeasurable impact on their children and herself. Sage said:

"It doesn't matter who cooks, cleans, taxis to-and-from practices, or who brings home the bacon. If we could all just put our egos aside and do whatever it takes as parents...all of our kids would be better off."

Every year, Sage honors Jonathan as much as she can. One of the most remarkable tributes she made for her husband was in 2018, when they marked their 19th anniversary on Instagram with a photo taken from their wedding day.

Reflecting on the passage of time, the television anchor finds pride in their abundance of cherished memories. Among these were the joys of raising children, moving to seven cities, and living in nine homes.

A Glimpse into Jonathan Bailey and Sage Steele's Family Life

Sage and her husband, Jonathan, are proud parents of three children: two daughters, Quinn and Evan Bailey, and a son, Nicholas Bailey. The television anchor is thrilled to have such a diverse background — her heritage results from her mother's Irish-Italian background and her father's African-American roots.

Jonathan, on the other hand, comes from a Caucasian background. The couple's kids have light complexions, and Sage said this is due to her mixed-race background and her husband's white heritage. Despite having curly hair, she noted that their kids' hair is "bone-straight" as it doesn't easily get curled up.

While the couple has shared a harmonious family life, it's not always the case. Sage once mentioned divorce in one reflective Facebook post in 2022. While she did state divorce, it's unclear if they went through it.

A year before her reflective post, she moved to a new house she deemed a "fresh start." When she announced her new home, it was still undergoing renovations. She now shares this space with her kids.

Sage gained fame as a television anchor for ESPN, hosting shows like "NBA Countdown" and "SportsCenter." She graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 1995 with a degree in sports communications.

She began her career at various media outlets before joining ESPN on March 16, 2007. In October 2021, the network suspended her after she made controversial remarks on an "Uncut" episode.

Sage announced her exit from the company on August 15, 2023, after settling her case with ESPN/Disney. The television anchor, who dedicated 16 years to the company, also said she wanted to exercise her First Amendment rights.

She is enthusiastic about the next chapter of her life despite leaving with bittersweet emotions. Her media journey is captivating, much like those of her colleagues Don Lemon, David Muir, Robin Roberts, Amy Robach, Malika Andrews, and Kayce Smith.
